Les Baux de Provence is one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France. It is located on a fortified rock site between Arles and St Remy-de-Provence about an hour drive from Our French Nest. You will find museums and an extensive chateau area. The views are spectacular. There is a village area lined with long cobblestone streets closed to autos. There are shops, restaurants, churches and small museums.

The Chateau-Fortress area is at the top of the village full of interesting ruins of castles and walls. The views are expansive. From one spot you can see as far as Aix-en-Provence and Marseille, from another towards Arles and the Carmargue.

The Carrieres de Lumieres is an amazing experience that takes place inside the quarries that have been dug out over the years to extract the limestone. Here you will discover illuminations of the work of the worlds greatest artists projected on to the quarry walls, set to music. Each year a different artist is showcased.
