Just 15 minutes outside of Sanilhac is the town of Uzès. The village itself is quite large and consists of a myriad of small, crooked streets and squares, full of restaurants, shops and galleries. The most well known square is “Place Aux Herbes”.  Here you will find the market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. If you go to the market on Wednesday, you will find the vendors mostly selling food and wine, everything from seafood, charcuterie, fromage, olive oil and legumes. On Saturday, the market literally takes over the entire historical center – it is a real “happening” where you can purchase everything available on Wednesdays as well as clothes, gifts, almost anything you can imagine.  Click here for some of the secrets of Uzès (please note that restaurant and hotel recommendations in this article are not up to date, yet the history is spot on).
